Dental Bonding in Elk Grove, CA
Get a Beautiful New Smile in About an Hour
Some of our patients have minor imperfections in their smile such as chipped teeth or severely stained teeth that are resistant to whitening. In these situations, dental bonding is an exceptional solution.
The procedure is quick and easy — one of our dentists simply applies small dabs of tooth-colored composite resin to the surface of the concerned tooth to achieve the desired effect. The process is really fast, only taking about an hour to complete.
Why You Might Want Dental Bonding
At Wackford Dental, we can use dental bonding to treat various issues, such as:
- Eliminating chips, cracks, or gaps
- Restoring stained teeth that resist whitening
- Protecting an exposed tooth-root
- Enhancing the shape and size of a tooth
The Dental Bonding Process
Even though the bonding process is minimally-invasive, our Elk Grove dentists might recommend using a local anesthetic.
First, we’ll use a shade guide to find the perfect color to match your smile. Once we get the right shade, we gently roughen the surface of your tooth and apply a conditioning material. This will help the resin form a strong bond with the tooth, increasing the durability of the treatment.
After the conditioning material is applied, Dr. Elsemary or Dr. Salem will add the tooth-colored resin to the tooth. At this point, the resin is flexible, so we can smooth the surfaces to achieve the desired result.
Finally, we use a special light to harden the resin. When it’s almost finished, our Wackford dentist will trim and polish the surface of the tooth until it blends in with the rest of your smile.
Caring for Your Bonded Tooth
Dental bonding is one of the most accessible and cost-effective cosmetic dental procedures. On average, the bonding material can last anywhere from three to ten years before another restoration is necessary. Your oral habits and the amount of bonding material used are the two main factors that determine the longevity of your treatment.
While there’s no special regimen for caring for a bonded tooth, we recommend maintaining strong oral hygiene habits — with daily brushing, flossing, and twice-yearly visits to Wackford Dental, your treatment can last a long time.
